Thanks to Katie, Rachelle and Irene it was all about sprouts and starting our vegetable plants from seeds.

The evening started with our first Young Gardener's Club at 6:00

Katie did a great job. The children trimmed catnip, were shown the various stages of seed germination and growth, snacked on cheese, crackers and sprouts and finally were given an aloe plant to take home.

Horticultural Society meeting at 7:00

Present were Lois O'Brien, Katie Barkley, Katherine Byrne, Donna Covyeow, Justine DeSerres-Mumcford, Esther Gaudet, Rachelle Gladu, Pamela Laverly, Anita McMaster, Dale Morris, Cherry Munn,  Jean Risto, Micheline Thalmann Jack and Irene Van Gemeren.

Learned from Rachelle that sprouts are relatively easy to grow, are nutritious, don't need a lot of supplies and are inexpensive compared with the Supermarket's prices.

Lots of helpful tips from Irene about starting from seeds and she is an expert at it. She supplies our plant sale with plenty of seedlings: tomato, cucumber, zuchinni, etc. Expect a few "HELP" call Irene.

Jack VanGemeren was elected Director of Community Betterment, Congratulations!

Lois supplied a beautiful cushion for the draw which was won by Donna.

We were educated, fed and had an enjoyable evening.

Hope to see you at the next meeting!
